Earl Glen Weber, 88, of Dows, IA, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, IA. He was born on June 11, 1925, in Hampton, IA, to Carl and Alma (Olson) Weber. Earl graduated from Dows High School. He was united in marriage to Verla Behrens on December 2, 1945, in Garner, IA. Earl farmed from his youth up to adulthood, was a soil commissioner of Franklin County and worked for Northwestern Mutual Life for forty-nine years and had acquired his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation. He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Dows and the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. Earl enjoyed golfing, gardening, flowers and working. He was a volunteer EMT for the Dows Ambulance, was a 4-H leader, was an active volunteer in the Dows community and was a Grand Marshall of Dows Corn Days in the 1990s. Earl is survived by his wife Verla Weber of Dows, son Corky (Becky) Weber of Edina, MN, and their daughters Amanda Weber and Alicia Weber of Edina, MN, daughter Pat (Lyle) Hanson of Eden Prairie, MN, and their children Christine Hanson and Zach Hanson of Eden Prairie, MN, sister De Elda Frodin of Gray Hawk, KY, sister Bernice Peterson of Waterloo, sister LaVonne Rastetter of Iowa Falls and sister Marie (Marv) Meyer of Iowa Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Alma Weber, brother Seth Weber and twin sister Elaine Schroeder.

It was Earl's wishes to donate his body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program in Iowa City, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Dows Presbyterian Church. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2013, at the Dows Community Center in Dows, IA. Burial will take place at a later date. The Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton is handling the arrangements.
