Services held Thursday for Bessie E. Hanson, 79

Bessie E. Hanson, 79, a Forest City area resident for 35 years, died Monday night [November 15, 1971] of a heart attack in her home at the Albert Baker farm. Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran, with burial at Madison Cemetery. Pastor Owen Gangstead will officiate. Olson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Hanson was born June 10, 1892, the daughter of Abel and Lena (Severson) Larson of Thor, Iowa. She married Robert Hanson on Feb. 19, 1911. At the time of her marriage she moved to Guckeen, Minn., later to the Renwick, Iowa, area, and then to the Forest City area in 1936. She farmed with her husband until his death in 1947.

Mrs. Hanson is survived by four children, Mrs. Reuben (Ruby) Howard of Emmons, Everett Hanson and Mrs. Albert (Jeanette) Baker, both of Forest City, and Mrs. Ardith Rose of Johnson, Ark.; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter in infancy, one son, LeRoy, in 1957, two brothers and one sister, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
