John Bosch of Mesa, Ariz., and Dakota City, Iowa, passed away in the early morning of Saturday, July
13, at the age of 88. John was born April 22, 1925, in Sheldon, Iowa, to Andrew and Jennifer Bosch.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Peterson Bosch; and long-time companion, Magle Jansen of Chicago, Ill.; son, James Bosch of Sparks, Nev.; brothers, Andrew and Simon; sisters, Tina Langenhorst, and Geraldine Walvoord. He is survived by daughters, Dianne Spangler of Johnston, Iowa, Kathy (Daniel) Rice of Mound, Minn., Merry (Robert) Conaway of Eagle Grove, Judy Wilson and Vicky Tonner, both of Reno, Nev.; proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Traci (Russell) Terwilliger of Des Moines, Iowa, Mandy (Grant) Manning of Urbandale, Iowa, Matt (Stacey) Spangler of Ankeny, Iowa, Kim (John) Tophen of Blaine, Minn., Christi (Jack) Frazier of Boone, Iowa, Jennifer (Jeff) Gano, of Boone, and Daniel (Jennifer) Conaway of Eagle Grove; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Holtrup of Fulda, Minn., Clara Vellinga of Sheldon, and Margaret Smith of Marietta, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. The family also wishes to acknowledge Magle’s three sons, Steve, Scott, and Jeff, and their families; and appreciation for his dear neighbors of Pueblo Grande in Mesa, Jack, Loretta, Wilma, and Kathy and Terry.

John served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was awarded a Purple Heart and Medal of Valor. He retired as a long distance truck driver from Yellow Freight. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. Services will be held Saturday, July 27, at 2 p.m., at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, with private interment to be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to go to the American Legion for the Wounded Warrior Project.

He is survived by sisters, Mary Holtrup of Fulda, MN, Clara Vellinga of Seldon, IA. And Margaret Smith of Marietta, GA. And many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his late wife Betty Peterson Bosch, and long time companion Magle Jansen of Chicago, IL and son James Bosch of Sparks, NV. He is survived by daughters: Dianne Spangler of Ankeny, IA, Kathy (Daniel) Rice of Mound, MN, and Merry (Robert) Conaway of Eagle Grove, IA. And Judy Wilson and Vicky Tonner of Reno, NV. He is the proud grandfather of 7 and Great grandfather of 12.
