Mary Becker, 65, of Stratford, formerly of Webster City, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center on Friday July 19 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Rosary at 8:00 p.m.

Mary Louise Thompson, daughter of Milford and Louise Vilmain Thompson, was born November 28, 1947 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1966. On November 29, 1969, she was united in marriage to Charles Becker. They resided in Wayne, NE and Jamaica, IA before making their home in Webster City. After her divorce, Mary studied elementary education at Buena Vista University, receiving a B.A. in 1997. She taught at St. Thomas Aquinas School in Webster City and in the Davenport public school system.

Mary is survived by her children: Monica Becker of Stratford, Dan (Rhonda) Becker of Shakopee, MN, and Laura (Kelly) Schafer of St. Joseph, IA; her grandchildren: Jayda Becker, Ryan Becker, and Clara Schafer; and her brothers: Paul (Brenda) Thompson of Eagle Grove, Joseph (Yuriko) Thompson of Japan, and Chuck Thompson of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and local Chapter BA, TTT. She enjoyed feeding her backyard birds, shopping, gardening, cooking and having fun with friends and family, in particular her beloved grandchildren. Donations may be made in Mary's name to Chapter BA, TTT in Webster City or the On With Life Foundation in Ankeny.
