Funeral of Clarion Accident Victim Held

CLARION, April 12 — Mrs. Ben Suiter, 62, victim of the automobile accident near Fort Dodge last week, was buried in Clarion cemetery Monday. Mrs. Suiter was married to Mr. Suiter in Clinton county in 1892 and in 1902 moved to Wright county, where they settled on a farm in Grant township. After 12 years of farming they moved to Clarion where they have since resided. Three daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Suiter Mrs. J. E. Fenninger, Mrs. John McDermott and Mrs. Homer McGrath all of Clarion. A brother preceded her in death in 1919 and a sister now lives in Princeton. Funeral services were conducted by the family pastor, the Rev. John S. Pollock at the Presbyterian church.

FORMER DE WITT WOMAN KILLED IN AUTO CRASH
Mrs. Della Suiter, Clarion, Victim of Highway Accident Near Ft. Dodge.
DeWitt, Ia., April 9 — Relatives received news of the death of Mrs. Della Casey Suiter, a former resident of this place. Mr. and Mrs. Suiter and their daughter were returning from a trip from Fort Dodge to their home at Clarion when their car skidded and overturned in a ditch. Mrs. Suiter was taken to the hospital at Fort Dodge where she died a few hours later. She was born on a farm west of DeWitt 61 years ago. Her parents were James and Rose Casey. She married Ben Suiter, also of DeWitt. twenty-five years ago they moved to Wright County. Surviving are the husband, three daughters, and a sister. Mrs. Anna Hamilton of Princeton. An uncle, F. M. Smith and a brother-in-law, Jeff Suiter of DeWitt, left for Clarion to attend the funeral, which was held today. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Clarion Auto in Bad Road Accident

Mrs. Ben Suiter, of Clarion, 61 years old, suffered a slight fracture of the skull and a double fracture of the leg, her husband was severely cut and bruised about the head, a daughter, Mrs. John Fenninger, 35, suffered a severe scalp wound, and bruises while another daughter, Mrs. Homer McGrath, 24, and her six months old baby, escaped uninjured, when the car in which they were returning from Fort Dodge to their home in Clarion, turned over on the U. S. highway No. 20 five mlies east of Fort Dodge last week. Mr. Suiter was driving the car, a big sedan, when the accident happened. He was attempting to pass another car, he said, when in some manner he lost control of his car. "I don't know how many times it turned over," said Mr. Suiter, "It seemed like several, but I suppose it was only once. All of us were thrown clear of the car. My two daughters were thrown into the ditch, and Mrs. Suiter, the baby and myself were on the road when we were picked up. The car stayed in the road, but it was pretty badly damaged. Passing motorists picked up the accident victims and brought them to Mercy hospital for emergency treatment. An examination revealed that none of them had suffered internal injuries, although they were badly bruised and shaken up. Mrs. Suiter who was the most seriously injured suffering a double fracture of the leg and a slight skull fracture was only semi-conscious the following day, but her condition was not considered critical. Mrs. Finneger has a severe scalp wound and was badly bruised, while Mr. Suiter has a deep gash over the eye and body bruises. They will all remain in the hospital for several days, attending physicians said.

Mrs. McGrath and baby left the hospital as Mrs. McGrath suffered only minor bruises while the baby escaped uninjured. Mr. and Mrs. Suiter and their two married daughters all live in Clarion, Mr. and Mrs. Suiter having recently retired from a farm. Later Mrs. Suiter passed away at the hospital.
