Funeral services were held for Mrs. Henry Swartzendruber at Thor Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 1:30. The Rev. Howard Bower, pastor of the Presbyterian church, Clarion, and Rev. Marlin Ingebretson officiated at services. Mrs. Swartzendruber passed away at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Thursday evening following a long illness. Surviving are widower, Henry E. Swartzendruber; sister, Miss Florence Breckenridge, Clarion; and a brother, Howard Breckenridge, Port Charlotte, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine brothers and sisters. Born in Des Moines County near Morning Sun, she moved with her parents to a farm in the Clarion area in 1895, and attended the Wright County Schools. She married Henry Swartzendruber at Clarion in 1913, where they farmed in the area until 1919, then moved to farms in Clay and Buena Vista counties. In 1940 they moved to Thor where Swartzendruber operated Thor Grain Co. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Clarion and an active member of the ALCW and a circle of Thor Lutheran church. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Clarion. The Eyler funeral home, Clarion, was in charge of arrangements.
