Clifford Thomas Stueland, son of Hans and Minnie (Mikkelsen) Stueland, was born September 27, 1901, in Humboldt County, Thor, Iowa. In 1913, he moved with his parents to Boyd, Minnesota, and later to a farm east of Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was baptized into the Christian faith in Iowa and confirmed in a Lutheran church in Boyd. Clifford worked on road construction and conservation work near Ely, Minnesota, for the last 30 years. He was employed by several mining companies near Aurora, Minnesota.
On May 4, 1939, he was united in marriage to Lydia Aspie of Aurora, Minnesota. She preceded him in death ten months ago, May 26, 1966. Clifford entered the hospital at Aurora for surgery and was reported to be getting along well when his unexpected death occurred on March 30, 1967. He reached the age of 65 years. Also preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Reuben and Harold. He is survived by four brothers: Arthur and Richard of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Earl of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and Edwin of Dubuque, Iowa; two sisters: Ruby (Mrs. Henry Oxtra) of Elbow Lake, Minnesota, and Evelyn (Mrs. Harlan Kruger) of Wood Lake, Minnesota; and seventeen nieces and nephews.
