EAGLE GROVE - Bertha Maude Kurfman, the daughter of Celestin and Maude (Legge) Loux, was born February 17, 1929 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. On February 4, 1953, Bertha was united in marriage to Richard O. Kurfman. They farmed in the Renwick and Eagle Grove area until moving to Woolstock in 1983, where they continued to farm, retiring in 1997. Bertha moved to Eagle Grove in 2009. Bertha was a member of the United Church of Christ in Clarion. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and spending time with her family.

Bertha passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 84 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard in 2002; a brother and an infant sister. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Lindstrom and husband Larry and Ida McCart and husband Kent both of Eagle Grove, son, Arnold Kurfman and wife Michelle of Goldfield; seven grandchildren: Jen Hansen (Luke) of Hardy, Kristel DeWall (Josh) of Spirit Lake, Blake McCart of Eagle Grove, Chadwick Lindstrom of Hubert, NC, Anthoney Lindstrom (Patsy) Webster City, Katlin Kurfman of Goldfield and Brennan Kurfman of Goldfield, great grandchildren: Brendon Schnell, Alexis and Chase Hansen, Hallie, Tyson and Tayden DeWall, and Bodin and Brylee Lindstrom; sister, Georgiana Bruhl (Glenn) of Eagle Grove; brother, Richard Loux (Pat) of Eagle Grove; sister-in-law, Sheila Loux of Eagle Grove and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at Church of Christ in Clarion with Pastor Warren Curry officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 6:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the French Cemetery near Woolstock. Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
