John 'Ed' Keeton, 70, of Panama City, Fla., formerly of Riceville, Iowa passed away on March 26, 2012 in Panama City, after a long fight with cancer. Gravesite services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Wayne Cemetery in rural McIntire, Iowa. Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 407 Woodland Ave. Riceville, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
He was born May 10, 1941 in Goldfield, Iowa to James and Stella (Wilder) Keeton. He grew up in the LeRoy, Minn. and Riceville areas, where he attended country school and high school. John joined the United States Air Force on April 14, 1961. In August 1964 John married Margaret Mueller of Blooming Prairie, Minn. While in the military he traveled to many different states and countries, and after spending almost 21 years in the military he retired as Master Sergeant in Panama City. After retiring he worked for G.E. and Lockheed Martin on the large-scale Dronesat Tyndall AFB. John was an avid fisherman and just loved spending time on the water. He enjoyed spending time with his family and used to marvel at what his grandchildren would do. He had an easy smile and enjoyed hanging out with his friends.
He is survived by his children, John Jr. (Kay) of Stockbridge, Ga., Theresa (Reid Marshall) Robyck of Panama City; five grandchildren, Katherine (Bryan) Mann, Justin and Kayla Keeton, Ryan (Ashley) Robyck and Morgan Marshall; two great-grandchildren, Kadence Mann and Ryan Robyck Jr.; his brothers, James and Marshall; sisters, Ruth Beals, Carolyn Bliven, Judy Portis, Lois Winkels and Ruby Losee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David; sister, Nancy Greeley; a nephew; and two nieces.
