Mason City — Audrey A. Engen, 80, of Mason City, died Monday morning, May 27, 2013, at the IOOF Home in Mason City. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion, Iowa. Officiating will be the Rev. Kathy Graves of Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church. There will not be any visitation.
Audrey Anne was born to Harold and Alma (Marcus) Engen on September 12, 1932, in Clarion, Iowa. She graduated with the class of 1950 from Clarion High School. She then graduated from Kahler School of Nursing and later in Tulsa, Okla., she completed her Medical Records degree. She was the assistant administrator for North Iowa Hospital and then the director. She then became the administrator for the Clarion Hospital for 13 years. From 1991 until 1994 she lived in Maine. Audrey traveled extensively around the United States and made nine trips abroad, visiting England, Ireland, Germany, France and other European nations, and with her friend Donna from California and whom she met at medical records school, went to China.
Audrey loved to share stories and visit with family and friends. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church while in Mason City and the Presbyterian Church in Clarion. While a member she sang in the choir and enjoyed ushering. She also was a DJ at KCMR radio station. She was a member of the “Sons of Norway“. She was loved by many.
One brother Richard Engen, Independence, Iowa and several nieces and nephews survive Audrey. Her parents and two brothers, Duane and Harold Engen Jr., preceded her in death. Fullerton Funeral Home, Mason City, Iowa.
