Ellsworth man died this morning

Final rites for Haakon Torgerson, 51, Ellsworth, will be held from the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellsworth, Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Orville Sanderson officiating. Mr. Torgerson, born in Stavanger, Norway, Nov. 20, 1912, died suddenly this morning at his home in Ellsworth from a heart attack. He moved to Ellsworth with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Torgerson in 1915 and married Charlotte Baxter Sept. 20, 1938. He is survived by six children: Mrs. Franklin McAlister, Costa Mesa, Calif.; Mrs. Duane Christiansen, Great Lake, Ill.; Mrs. Daniel Henry, Ellsworth; Mrs. Eugene Lura, Randall; Ernest and Betty Ann Torgerson, Ellsworth. Also surviving is a brother, Monrad and two sisters, Thelma Vulgamott, Ellsworth, and Mrs. Bernice Christenson, Webster City, and five grandchildren. Mr. Torgerson had been employed as a cook at Morton's Frozen Foods in Webster City for the past seven years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellsworth. Becker Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
