Ernest C. Hoversten, 68, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1982 at his son's home in Sioux Falls. He was born April 2, 1914 at Williams, IA, the son of Thomas and Anna Hoversten. He lived in the Williams area until 1950. He married Ruth E. Etter March 6, 1938 at Williams. They moved to Edinburg, TX where he attended the Rio Grande Bible Academy, graduating in 1955. They then moved to Webster City, IA until 1960 when they moved to the Miller area. He was the pastor of the Carleton Community and Beulah Churches. In 1964 they moved to Miller and in 1972 moved to a farm south of Ree Heights. He was a member of the Carleton Community Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, Ree Heights; one daughter, Mrs. John (Joyce) Klaras, Springfield, VA; three sons, Ted Hoversten, Denver, CO, Dr. David Hoversten, Sioux Falls and Neil Hoversten, Sheridan, WY; 10 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Edna Everman, Iowa Falls, IA, Mrs. LeRoy (Birdie) Inks, Williams, IA, Mrs. George (Alice) Mathias, Indianola, IA and Mrs. Jesse (Hazel) Westwick, Williams, IA; three brothers, Chester, Ludlow, MO, Gaylord Hoversten, Radcliffe, IA and Glen of Iowa.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1982 at the St. Lawrence Community Church with Pastors Kenneth Pickens and Richard Ransom officiating. Burial was in GAR Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Active pallbearers were Gordon Strasburg, Ted Hoversten, Webb Hurd, Mike Hoversten, Daelyn Sanger and John Kiaras. Honorary pallbearers were Chester Hoversten, Gaylord Hoversten, Glen Hoversten, Clayton Morris, Dale Fawcett, John Canham and Wilford Herman.
