Carl Cherland Rites Tuesday

Funeral services for Carl Cherland, 84, of Blue Earth, were held at 2 p.m. today at the Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. Arling Thompson officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Forsman's funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cherland died at the Winnebago hospital Saturday night, Sept. 10, 1966. He had been a resident of the Winnebago Baptist home for about a year.

He was born Dec. 18, 1881 near Roland, Iowa. He married Katherine Halligan in Iowa and the couple farmed in the Pilot Grove area until 1926 when they moved to Blue Earth. Mrs. Cherland preceded her husband in death. Survivors include six sons and two daughters. They are Carroll, Wayne and Mrs. Kathleen Sohn of Blue Earth; Clarence of Estevan, Canada; Milton of El Centro, Calif.; Richard of Banning, Calif.; Robert of Minnetonka, Minn. and Mrs. Alvina Kallestad of Miller, S.D. There are 29 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
