April 23, 1928 --- January 20, 2012

Bernice S. Telschaw, 85, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012, at the Villa Cottages. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Lyle Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery near Vincent.

Bernice Wiles, daughter of Lucille (Axness) and Fred Wiles was born April 23, 1926 in Fort Dodge. She attended Fort Dodge Schools through 10th grade when she moved to Des Moines and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1945. Bernice then attended Drake University before transferring to Augustana Pediatric Nursing School in Chicago; graduating in 1947. She was a private pediatric nurse in various states. On December 3, 1949 she was united in marriage to Alvin Telschaw at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. In 1965, she graduated from Fort Dodge Junior College Medical Assistant Program. She worked for Dr. Frank Larsen from 1965 until 1975; and then at Decorators Florals and Gifts as a bookkeeper for 3 years. After working for the Webster County Extension Office for 6-1/2 years she retired in 1986. Bernice was a strong Christian woman active in her church and best known for her passion for visiting shut-ins and making dolls. She also loved to travel with her husband and family. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Ruth Circle, Morning Bible Class, Christian Management Board for 8 years, and Lamplighter's.

Survivors include her son, Allan (Debora) of Fort Dodge; daughter, Beverly Potter of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Amanda Telschaw and Joshua Telschaw (his fiance Jenny Coleman); great grandchildren, Quinn, Savannah and Owen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin in 2001; mother and step father, Lucille and Oscar McDaniel, father Fred Wiles; and her sisters, Virginia Bothe and Dorothy Wiles.
