January 14, 1951 --- November 20, 1971
Paul Arthur Wagner was born January 14, 1951 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Melvin and Geraldine Thompson Wagner. He was baptized into the triune faith on February 18, 1951 in the South Enes Lutheran Church, Vincent. The pastor officiating was Howard Lybeck. On May 29, 1966 he renewed his baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation at South Enes Lutheran Church, Pastor G. O. Wangberg officiating. He died on November 20, 1971 at Clarion Hospital after reaching the age of 20 years, 10 months, and 6 days.
Paul completed the first six years of his education in the Vincent schools. He then attended the Eagle Grove schools, graduating with the class of 1969. The family moved to Eagle Grove in 1966 and to their present location in 1969.
Since infancy Paul has suffered from an incurable disease (cystic fibrosis) which made it necessary for him to be in and out of hospitals during his life. For the last several years oxygen was administered to him constantly in his home. His parents were very faithful in doing everything that was possible for him during his long illness. Their home was always pleasant to visit and Paul added to that pleasantness. He loved to watch the various sports activities on TV and was very adept in art. His family will cherish many of the pictures that he has drawn. On the 13th of November it became necessary to hospitalize him in Clarion where one week later the Lord delivered him from his sickness and took him peacefully unto Himself.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wagner. Those who mourn his death are his parents, two brothers Kent and Kevin, one sister, Paulette, all of Eagle Grove.
Funeral services were held November 23, at 2:00 p.m. Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. H. W. Schiller officiating. Interment in Colfax Cemetery, south of Vincent.
