MRS. CAQUELIN DIES AT 94
Mrs. Emile (Sophia) Caquelin, 94, died at 6 o'clock this morning at Crestview Manor where she had been a patient since Jan. 1964. She had been in failing health for several years. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Foster Funeral home with Steven Larson, intern pastor of Trinity Lutheran church, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Sophia Marie Malaise, daughter of Prosper and Justine Malaise, was born Feb. 3, 1871, on a farm near Serena, in LaSalle county, Ill. She was reared and educated in that community. She was united in marriage Jan. 10, 1895, to Emile Caquelin at Serena, and shortly after their marriage they moved to Iowa where they had purchased a farm east of Woolstock. They resided there for two years, then returned to Illinois where they farmed near Serena for three years. They then returned to the farm east of Woolstock and made their home there until 1929, when they retired and purchased their present home at 1017 Water St. Mr. and Mrs. Caquelin observed their golden wedding anniversary on Jan. 10, 1945.
She is survived by one daughter and three sons; Mrs. Earl (Odetta) Finch of Woolstock, Lee M. Caquelin of Kamrar, Rayner G. Caquelin of Woolstock and Harold E. Caquelin of Webster City.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Mrs. Jimmie (June) Osboe of Duncombe, Leland Caquelin, Lancaster, Calif., Maynard Finch and Gerald Caquelin, both of Woolstock. Mrs. Marion (Carole) Klaver and Mrs. Robert (Rochelle) Harris, both of Altoona, Iowa: 13 grandchildren and one g-g-grandson; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Eva Wilcox of Vincent, Iowa, Mrs. Ellen Bernard of Woolstock, and E. H. Malaise of Caldwell, Idaho and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jan 26, 1952, by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Caquelin was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Webster City.Daily Freeman Journal - Webster City, Iowa
