AMERICAN LEGION FUNERAL PLANNED FOR LEE FISTLER
Gunshot Victim Spent Two Years in France in Signal Detail.
CLEAR LAKE, Jan. 16. - Funeral services for Lee Fistler, 41, who was accidentally shot Thursday morning when his gun discharged while he was hunting rabbits, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Congregational church. The Rev. W. B. MILNE will officiate and the Stafford post of the American Legion will conduct the services. Interment will be made at Clear Lake cemetery.
Mr. Fistler was born and reared in Clear Lake. After completing the Clear Lake high school course in 1909 he assisted his brother, P. W. Fistler in the telephone business in Clear Lake. He spent a year at Britt and then accepted the position of manager with the Western Electric telephone company at Clarion. In November 1917 while at Clarion he enlisted as a volunteer in [the] signal corps of Aviation department. He was first stationed at Omaha and later at Ft. Logan, Colo., San Antonia, Tex., Ft. Sill, Okla., and Newport News, Va. He was sent overseas with the twenty-sixth Balloon company in the telephone detail. He spent one and one half years in this work a short distance behind the scene of action. He returned to America in July 1919. While at Clarion he joined the Eldora post of the American Legion. Upon his return he settled at Union on a farm. he was married to Theresa Spurlin of Union in 1923. The family moved to Clear Lake last week from Union and purchased the Ambrose Sherman farm north of Clear Lake.
He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mary Elizabeth, 6; Virginia Lee, 4; and Patricia, 3; his mother, Mrs. Marion Fistler, Clear Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Fehrs, Bradley, Nebr., and Miss Gertrude Fistler, Clear Lake; and brothers, P. W. and Reuben, Clear Lake.
