Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Allen, resident of this community for over 52 years, were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the Berggreen Funeral Home. She died last Thursday, March 7, at the age of 76 years, ll months and 12 days. Services were conducted by the Rev. Gordon Winsor, pastor of the Congregational Church, and interment was made in Greenwood cemetery. Favorite hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" were sung at the last rites. Mrs. Allen lived a Christian life devoted to her family and to her home. Born Minnie H. Veeder March 25, 1869, to David Zelie and Rachel Ann Veeder at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Mrs. Allen was the last surviving member of a family of 12 children. As a child she moved with her parents to Belmond, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Charles H. Veeder on April 2, 1893, and came as a bride to the farm home south of Sauk Centre where she lived until several years ago when she moved to this city. Eight children were born to them; Howard Charles, of Grey Eagle, Archie William, Bessie Irene, of Sauk Centre, Grant Gordon, of Breckenridge, Fern Estelle (Mrs. H. J. Horwedel) of Hackensack, Lyle Willard, of Minneapolis, Cyril Henry who died in 1923 and a daughter who passed away in infancy. Mr. Veeder died in 1920. In 1924 she was married to Charles S. Allen, who preceded her in death on January 11, 1940. Mrs. Allen is survived by five grandchildren besides her sons and daughters. Robert Coulson of Belmond, Iowa, and Homer Lord, of Galt Iowa, nephews of the deceased, attended the funeral service. Pallbearers, chosen from old neighbors and friends, were; Winfield Ceynar, Fred Botz, Frank Pesheck, George Barner, William and Walter Gritzmacher.
