November 26, 1898 --- May 8, 1994

AUSTIN, MN -- Mildred G. Dunnette, 95, a resident of Walker Methodist Residence in Minneapolis since 1980 and a former longtime Austin homemaker, died Sunday morning (May 8, 1994) at the nursing home. She was born Nov. 26, 1898, in Hardy, Iowa, attended schools in Livermore, Iowa, and graduated from high school in Eagle Grove, Iowa. In the early 1920s, she moved to Austin. As a young woman, she worked in the Mower County registrar of deeds office, was a member of the Methodist youth group Epworth League and played on the Hormel girls basketball team. On June 28, 1925, she married Rodney Dunnette in Austin. Her husband died in 1974. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and was active in church volunteer work. She and her husband belonged to the Cotillion Club and the informal Methodist group the Old Gang. Survivors include two sons, Marvin of St. Paul and Roger of Roseville, Minn.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A granddaughter and four brothers preceded her in death. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Mark Nordell officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Friends may call from noon until time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church.
