CRASH FATAL TO J. KELLY

Joseph A Kelly, 55, died late yesterday afternoon at Naeve hospital as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident just north of Lake Mills early Tuesday morning. Kelly, who resides at 526 Court Street, was enroute to Albert Lea when he failed to make a turn in the highway. His car left the road, throwing Kelly and his passenger, Tranquilino Acosta, to the pavement before it rolled over several times. Sheriff Monson of Forest City was called to the scene of the accident. Monson described the two men as being in 'bad shape' when he arrived. A Lake Mills doctor was summoned and after emergency treatment, the injured men were brought to Albert Lea in the Lake Mills ambulance. In an effort to secure more details concerning the accident, Sheriff Monson came to Naeve hospital yesterday, but was unable to question either of the men. Kelly died at 3:35 p.m. Acosta's condition is fair, according to the attending physician.

Joseph A. Kelly was born June 17, 1892 at Patterson, N.J. and had resided most of his life in Albert Lea. In 1915, he married [in Eagle Grove, Iowa] Alice Mathilda Larson of Humboldt, Ia, who survives him. Other survivors are four sons, Robert J., James E., Joseph P., all of Albert Lea, and two daughters, Loretta (Mrs. Dick Walker) and Vivian Kelly, both of Denver, Colo. One daughter, Dorothy, died in 1926. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug 9 at 2 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral home. The Rev. Theodore M. Boeof First Lutheran church will officiate. Burial will be made at Graceland cemetery.
