Loren E. Howe, 66, of 1201 28th St., West Des Moines, died of a heart attack Sunday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. The body will be cremated and private graveside services will be June 17 in Resthaven Cemetery. Mr. Howe was born in Clarke County and lived in Clarion before moving to West Des Moines 38 years ago. He retired from management training for Northwestern Bell, was an Army veteran of World Wad II and had been a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church.

Among survivors are his wife, Lorenelle; a son, Dan of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Melanie Carpenter of Norwalk; three sisters, Pauline Durr of Fullerton, Calif., Helen Stearns of Woodburn and Geraldine Smith of Milo; and six grandchildren. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McLaren's Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
