Ruth E. Bemrich, 83, of the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, Iowa and formerly of Independence, and Belmond, Iowa died Tuesday morning, February 19, 2013 at the Good Neighbor Home.

Ruth was born on June 6, 1929, near Mallard, Iowa the daughter of Earl J. and Hilda M. (Larson) Stafford. She was a 1948 graduate of the Mallard High School, Mallard, Iowa. On August 1, 1951 she was united in marriage to Dale J. Bemrich. The couple farmed in the Mallard area for several years prior to owning and operating the Dale’s DX Service Station. In 1958 the family moved to Belmond, Iowa while Dale was employed as a New Holland District Sales Representative. The couple moved to Independence, Iowa in 2009. She was a loving and devout mother, an avid golfer, who loved to cook and bake, and was especially noted for her pies.

She is survived by four children; Darrell (Mary) Bemrich, East Moline, IL., Diane Bemrich, Independence, IA., Jerry (Patti) Bemrich, Scottsdale, AZ., and Deb (Dan) Toale, Independence, IA., eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and three sisters; Arlene Hinrichs, Buffalo, MN, Margaret Hinrichs, Burnsville, MN, and Dorothy Lyon, Mallard, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale on December 31, 2012, and two brothers; Kenneth and Wesley Stafford.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, IA with burial at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Belmond, IA. Friends may call from 10 A.M. till services Saturday at the funeral home.
