Marvin Joseph "Bud" Willie, the son of Walter and Catherine (Meier) Willie, was born May 14th, 1925 in Doland, South Dakota. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1943 before serving in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII as a pilot. On June 22nd, 1949, Bud was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Olson at Eagle Grove. He was a farmer and a truck driver, working road maintenance for Wright County until retiring in 1991. Bud was lifelong resident of Eagle Grove where he was a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bud was also a member of the Central States Teamsters Union and Wright County Employees Union-Secondary Road Employee Association.

Bud passed away peacefully, on Friday, February 1, 2013, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt at the age of 87 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly on August 13, 1978; two infant children, Mark and Mary; sister, Virginia Anderson and a twin brother, Eldon "Ole" Willie. Surviving are his four children: son, Michael J. Willie of Eagle Grove, son, Don S. Willie of Eagle Grove, daughter, Debra J. Townsend and husband Doug of Portage, Indiana and daughter, Gia M. Boyer of Eagle Grove; five grandchildren, Anthony Townsend (Patricia) of Waterloo, Mark Willie of West Des Moines, Megan Myers (Shannon) of Festina, Zachary Boyer of Waverly and Bailey Boyer of Eagle Grove; two great grandchildren, Aubrey Townsend and Kasey Myers; and five brothers and sisters, Lois Filipek of Redfield, S.D., Dennis Willie of Hackensack, N.J., Ben Willie (Dorothy) of Iowa City, IA, Frances Trout (Richard) of Elkhart, IN, and Robert Willie (Darletta) of Ralston, NE.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Nils Hernandez officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary/Vigil Service at 2:30 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
