Ardys "Smokie" Pingel, 77, of Fort Dodge, died January 23, 2013 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. Interment will be held in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Ardys Ardella "Smokie" Ferrell, the daughter of Frank and Elenora (Brandt) Ferrell, was born on April 29, 1935 in Woolstock, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1953. On August 24, 1957 she was united in marriage to Bruce Pingel. The couple made their home and raised their family in Fort Dodge. Ardys was employed at Friendship Haven as a receptionist and switch board operator, retiring in 1998. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Ardys is survived by her husband Bruce; her children Beth (Ron) Battcher, Jo (Rich) Seltz, Kim (Todd) Eastwood, and Cathy McNeal, all of Fort Dodge; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; her brother Bob (Nancy) Ferrell of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Elenora Ferrell, her infant daughter Kristin Pingel, her siblings Don Ferrell, Ornella Ferrell, Lillian Ferrell; her great-granddaughter Ava Passow; and her son-in-law George McNeal. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
