February 26, 1938 --- January 15, 2013

James B. Day, 74, of Clarion passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion. Funeral services for James Day will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM at The Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene, 1010 2nd Street South West in Clarion with Pastor Dana Wendel officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Dows. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street in Clarion and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

James was born February 26, 1938 in Dodge county Minnesota to Ethan and Celia (Harris) Day. The family moved to Webster City in 1948 where James attended school. James had one son, Glen, from his first wife, Margaret. He was later united in marriage to JoAnn Smith on September 17, 1970. JoAnn passed away on December 17, 1993 from complications from a spinal tumor that had kept her wheelchair bound for most of her adult life.

James enjoyed playing guitar, harmonica, singing, and traveling, having spent several years in Texas. He also got to see a lot of the country while working for a carnival company. He later worked for Morton’s in Webster City and Winnebago Industries in Forest City.

James is survived by his sister Janet Neese of Clarion, brother Richard (Diane) Day of Algona, sister Betty (Bob) Schaffer of Clarion, brother David (Mary) Day of Oklahoma, and brother Gary (Candy) Day of Ames, along with several nieces and nephews, other family members and friends. James is preceded in death by his parents, his wife JoAnn, and his son, Glen.
