December 4, 1891 -- December 13, 1973

Christine Peterson Nibe, 82, died on Thursday morning, Dec. 13, at the Story City Memorial Hospital. She was born in Story City Dec. 4, 1891, the daughter of Peter Peterson and Kristine Kristofferson Peterson. She was baptized and joined the Christian Church in Jewell in 1906. She transferred her membership to the Grace United Methodist Church in Story City on Dec. 31, 1944. She was married to Helmer J. Nibe in Jewell Nov. 15, 1910. She is survived by two sons; Arnold P. of Newton, and Helmer J. of Blairsburg; a sister, Mary Peterson, who resides at Bethany Manor; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and two sons; Harlan and Donald. She was a member of United Methodist Women, Ladies' Council Class and the American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 from the Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul H. Beckman officiating. Burial was in the Story City Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Dorrel Doolittle, organist, accompanied Mrs. Roger Bohning, soloist, as she sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Melbourne Thorson, Lawrence Thorson, Richard Thorson, Irvin Thorson, Robert Thorson and Richard Simpson.
