Elizabeth "Betty" Stemler passed away on December 23, 2012 at Providence Medical Center in Everett, Washington. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Betty was born on January 15, 1928 in Clarion, IA to Lawrence and Jane (Sann) Adams. She grew up on the family farm, graduating from Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines. She married Donald "Dutch" Stemler on January 31, 1949 moving to Des Moines where they raised their family. Betty worked at Mercy Hospital and Northwest Hospital, which became Charter Hospital, until she retired. Betty enjoyed her family, woodworking and traveling. Betty moved to the Seattle area nine years ago. Betty is survived by son, Pat (Ethel Weltman) Stemler of Springfield, OR; son, Steve (Kathleen McCabe) Stemler of Tampa, FL; son, Dennis (Ellen) Stemler of Ankeny; daughter, Teresa (Thom Sena) Stemler of Mukilteo, WA; brother, Kenny Adams of Clarion; six grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Dutch. Memorial contributions may be made to breast cancer research.
