March 16, 1913 --- June 4, 2012

Gladys Lucille Ringus, 89, of Mason City died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Good Shepherd Health Center. Gladys was born March 16, 1923, in Corwith, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn L. and Esther B. (Anderson) Kimball. Her family moved to Mason City when she was 3 years old. Gladys graduated from Mason City High School in 1941, and continued her education and graduated from Hamilton Business College. Gladys was united in marriage to Charles J. Ringus Sr. on June 22, 1946, in Mason City and to this union were born a son and daughter. Over the years, Gladys worked for AARP (secretarial) for six years and Damons (clerk) for 18 years before retiring in 1989.

She was baptized and confirmed (1937) at Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member. She was also a member of various women's church circles and enjoyed volunteering in the church office. She was an original member of the 500 Club (39 years), and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Gladys enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them in their sporting events. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Gladys is survived by her son: Charles J. Ringus (and wife, Lana) of Clear Lake; daughter, Susan C. Wilt (and husband, Bill) of Fremont; four grandchildren, Abby Ringus Hill (and husband, Vince) of Eldridge, Iowa, Jay Wilt (and wife, Michelle) of Wahoo, Jared Ringus (and wife, Lisa) of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Lexy Wilt Baughman (and husband, Willie) of Fremont; and four great-grandchildren, Jaxsen and Kellen Wilt, both of Wahoo, Delaney Hill of Eldridge and Colton Ringus of West Des Moines. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Arlys Kimball of Mason City, and a brother, Glenn Kimball Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband and two brothers, Gene Kimball (in World War II), and Vernon "Mugs" Kimball.

The memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., in Mason City with the Rev. Kathy Graves officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the church service. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are with Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory in Mason City.
