James Lewis Pohlman, 78, of Burlington, died at 10:56 am Thursday, November 15, 2012, at home. Born January 4, 1934, in Clarion, IA, he was the son of Fritz and Kittie Clarabell Bradley Pohlman. He graduated from high school in Florida and then got a job with the Great Northern Railroad and lost his arm while working there in 1960. He was a night watchman at Lamont. He enjoyed going to car races, St. Bernard dogs, drinking P.B.R., fishing and helping kids cross the street at the school crossing.
Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Sue Strong of Burlington; one son, Terry Strong of Burlington; two sisters, Vicki Freeman of Clarion and Kittie Mann of Pleasanton, TX; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. As per James's request cremation has been accorded. There will be no visitation or services. Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory is in care of the arrangements.
