Florence Albers, age 101, of Twilight Acres Care Facility, Wall Lake, Iowa, formerly of Klemme, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at the Twilight Acres Care Facility, Wall Lake. Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 27, 1:30 p.m., at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme. The Reverend Donna Buckman will be officiating. Burial will be in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. Visitation will be on Monday at the church from 12 to 1:30 p.m.

Florence Albers was born March 17, 1911, near Klemme. She was the oldest of the three children born to Dick and Frances (Behrends) Swalve. She was baptized June 18, 1911, at the Klemme Church of Christ. She received her education in a rural school south of Klemme. Florence was Confirmed in the Klemme United Church of Christ in 1927 by the Rev. Grosschuck. Florence was united in marriage to John Albers on Dec. 18, 1930. Being the first couple married in the newly built church. They made their home two and a half miles west of Klemme for a number of years until they built a new home in Klemme and then retired there. Florence and John spent 5 years in Texas for the winter months. Florence was preceded in death by John, Nov. 2, 1989. She continued to live in her Klemme home until her health forced her into the Klemme Apartments. There after she then moved to be with her family as she resided at the Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake.

Florence enjoyed various activities such as Senior Citizens, Grandmothers Club, Widows and Bridge. In her earlier years she thought Sunday School attended Bible Class and other church activities. Florence enjoyed reading and loved to stay knowledgeable of current events. She especially loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish the memory of Florence is her son Carroll (Mari) Albers of Garner; her 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren. Florence is preceded in death by her husband John; parents Dick and Frances; sister Carrie; brother Clarence and a great-grandson.
