FORMER RESIDENT, MRS. JOY WILSON, DIES IN MINNESOTA

A former Grinnell resident, Mrs. Joy Wilson, 94, died Monday at Owatonna, Minn., where she had made her home recently. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home with Dr. G. S. Bruland, minister of the Methodist church, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Rhee Auman. Pallbearers will be George Paul, Adolph Krumm, Howard Sage, Ed Speth, Bill Walters and Jim McNally. Burial will be in Buckingham cemetery near Traer with committal services at 2 p.m.

Born May 5th, 1866 near Aberdeenshire, Scotland, she was the daughter of John and Ann Leslie Shearer and came to Poweshiek county with her parents while young. She lived on a farm north of Ewart and attended the rural schools there. Later she was married to David Wilson and to this union were born four children: Leslie Wilson of Owatonna, Minn.; Miss Grace Wilson of Grinnell, who is presently teaching at Berea College, Berea, Ky.; and two sons who died in youth. In addition to her son and daughter, survivors include three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1897, her two sons, and all her brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Wilson lived in Goldfield and Chicago, before returning to make her home in Grinnell. She had recently moved to Owatonna to be near her son. She was a member of the Methodist church.
