Mason City - Michael E. Kane, 51, Mason City (formerly Panama City, Fla.) passed away Sept. 20, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospital, following a long courageous battle with leukemia. Michael was born Dec. 22, 1960, in Denver, Colo., to Karna (Peterson) and Eugene Kane. Raised in Eagle Grove, then spent 30 years in Panama City, Fla., returning to Iowa in 2011. He is survived by daughter Jennifer (Bill) Houston and girls Kaylana and Anyssa, sons Michael and Marcus, Panama City, and stepchildren Kaylene, Courtney and Caleb Huff. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, father Eugene and sister Heidi Kane. There will be a family memorial Oct. 7.
