Karen K. Espe, 69, retired cook, passed away on Sept. 6 at her home surrounded by her family.

Karen K. Espe, 69, retired cook, passed away on Sept. 6 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Webster City, Iowa on Dec. 10, 1942 to Roger N. and Katherine S. (Canfield) Johnson. In 1960 Karen was married to Ronald G. Espe in Webster City, Iowa. They had six children then later divorced. Karen is survived by her children Ricky Espe of El Dorado, La Donna (Mike) Ward of El Dorado, Joei (Cheryl) Espe of Coffeyville, Terry and Thomas Espe of Emporia and Jennifer (Coy) Cannon of Burns; brothers, Roger Johnson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Noble Johnson of Iola; sisters, Pearl Jensen of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Judy Blair of Huxley, Iowa, Ramona De Van of Jefferson, Iowa and Mary M. VanBuskirk of Matfield Green; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at Heritage Funeral Home, 120 N. Main, El Dorado. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Matfield Community Church, 205 Bocook, Matfield Green. Interment will follow at Matfield Green Cemetery.
