EAGLE GROVE - Regina Anna Steil, the daughter of Clemens and Anna (Rueter) Schmidt, was born on March 17, 1920, in Freeport, Minnesota. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. On May 3, 1943, Regina was united in marriage with John Steil at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. The couple farmed in Minnesota before moving to Iowa in 1952. Regina was a homemaker for many years before retiring due to her health.

Regina was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Guild, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas- since 1942 and Rotary Auxiliary. Regina enjoyed sewing, playing cards, putting puzzles together, baking and spending time with family.

Regina passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1978; granddaughter, Jennifer Clark; daughters-in-law, Dana Steil and Dawn Steil; three sisters and seven brothers. Survivors include her children, Clem Steil of Eagle Grove, Dennis Steil of Eagle Grove, Carl Steil and wife Kim of Eagle Grove, Dorothy Clark and husband Wayne, Regina's 'favorite son-in-law' of Osage, Bill Steil and wife LaDonna of Ankeny and Ray Steil of Eagle Grove; eleven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and a sister, Rose Betow of Sauk Centre, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Nils Hernandez officiating. Visitation is Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
