Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Vernhardt Holm, 70, of Sumner, who died Thursday, Oct. 16, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo following a lengthy illness. There were 10:30 a.m. services at St. John American Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. John H. Sorenson and Rev. Norman W. Stubbendick officiating. Burial was in Grace Lutheran Cemetery at Tripoli, and Becker-Milnes Funeral Service of Sumner was in charge of the arrangements.

Hildagardt Minnie Marie, daughter of Frank and Alvina (Bahlmann) Bremer, was born April 12, 1916, near Frederika in Bremer County, Iowa. She was baptized April 30, 1916, and confirmed March 24, 1929, at St. Paul's Evangelical Church of Leroy Township. She attended school in the Frederika area, graduating from Frederika High School in 1934. On Sept. 26, 1937, she married Vernhardt Holm at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. The couple moved to Clarion in 1940, and before moving to Sumner in 1957 they resided for a short time in Tripoli. She was a longtime member of St. John American Lutheran Church in Sumner.

In addition to her husband, Vernie of Sumner, she is survived by three sons, Robert of Tripoli, Richard of West Union, and Russell of Savage, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. George (Nancy) Kaiser of Waverly; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Bremer of Tripoli; and one sister, Mrs. Louie (Olinda) Hagedorn of Ionia. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lester and Arnold; and two sisters, Helena Bergmann and Adala Woods.
