Renwick Times -- Renwick, Iowa

*****
After and illness of nearly a year, Wm. L. Hagerhorst yielded to the inevitable Sunday evening and passed to the Great Beyond. For months he realized that the malady which placed its insidious hold on him could not be defeated, but he gave everything he had in fighting it off and by sheer indomitable will power prolonged the fatal issue, weeks after his physicians predicted that the end would come. All through the distressing hot weather he never lost the desire to live nor the courage to fight the losing struggle.

Hundreds of Friends

Mr. Hagerhorst counted his friends by the hundreds. He represented his firm in the Northwest Iowa territory so long that his weekly calls were regarded by his patrons in the nature of a visit from a friend. They trusted him. They knew he shot square with them and although the personnel of his firm changed many times, there was no thought of displacing Mr. Hagerhorst on his territory.

Pride in Eagle Grove

Ever interested in the welfare of his hometown, Mr. Hagerhorst was one of the city's most loyal citizens. He rejoiced in our successes and was proud to be hailed as a member of this community. Never seeking the limelight yet he was known and respected all over this part of the state.

Funeral services were conducted just as he would have suggested. He desired no glowing eulogies at the service and his wishes were respected. His pastor, the Rev. Albert Kilbourn, was in charge. The Masonic funeral service was given at the grave in accordance with his request. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

“Bill” as he was known to his hosts of friends and admirers, is gone. He can never be replaced in their affections. The sincerest sympathy of all is extended the bereaved widow and close friends to whom his passing means the most.
