Harold Melvin Hansen, son of Knut and Lisa Larson Hansen, was born January 22, 1903, at Ytra Arna, Bergen, Norway. He was the youngest of a family of ten children, all of whom preceded him in death. Harold came to the United States early in life and worked at his trade as a carpenter at Waterbury, Connecticut. He came to Eagle Grove in 1922. He worked for many years as a carpenter for Jesse Watson and was manager of the Farmers Co-op Lumber Yard for 27 years, retiring in 1968. In 1941 he was united in marriage with Hattie Buhner. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith while in Norway. Harold died Friday, December 1, 1978, at the Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge, at the age of 75. Preceding him in death were his parents, seven brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Hattie, nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, December 4 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Marvin Berkeland officiated and burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery.
