Funeral services for Mrs. Tena Luppes, 78, longtime resident of this community, will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Church of Christ, preceded by a brief service for relatives at 2:30 at the Foster funeral home. The Rev. M. V. Chastain will officiate, with burial in Liberty Center cemetery, south of Blairsburg. Mrs. Luppes died at 1 p.m. Wednesday at her home 621 Stockdale Street. She had been in failing health the past two years.

Tena Lammers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lammers, was born Feb. 11, 1877 in Germany. She was six years old when she came with her parents to the United States. They located on a farm northwest of Clarion and she was reared and educated in the Clarion community. She was united in marriage Sept. 10, 1897 to Harm Luppes. Mr. and Mrs. Luppes made their home in the Clarion vicinity for three years, then moved to a farm south of Blairsburg. Mr. Luppes preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1926 and the following year Mrs. Luppes moved in to Webster City, her home since.

Surviving are one daughter, Bonnie Luppes, at home; and three sons, Harry Luppes, Blairsburg; Herman and Joe Luppes of Webster City; three grandchildren, Douglas Luppes, Merlin Beightol and Anita Zolnosky; two greatgrandchildren, Deborah and Jeffrey Zolnosky. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Luppes was baptized in the Christian faith and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a kind and loving mother, whose home and family were her main interests in life.
