Marilyn Yvonne Willey was born August 22, 1938, in Mount Ayr, Iowa, one of three children born to Harold Franklin Willey and Erma Fern Danielson Willey, and departed this life on October 7, 1996. She grew up in Mount Ayr and received her education in the Mount Ayr public school system. In 1955, she was united in marriage to James G. Mohr in the Arispe Methodist Church in Arispe, Iowa. To this union were born five children: four sons, James, Jr., Kenneth Eugene, Ronald Dean and Michael Norman, and one daughter, Linda Rochelle (Shelly).

Marilyn spent the first six years of her marriage in Fort Dodge and then the family moved to Creston and lived there four years. In 1965, the family moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa where she spent the remainder of her life. In 1970, she entered the Office Education Class at Iowa Central Community College in Eagle Grove and became employed at the Blue & Blue Law Firm. She graduated from the Office Education Class in 1972, and remained employed for Robert Blue until his death in 1989. She then worked at the McGrath and Long Law Office part-time and at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home until ill health forced her to retire. In her spare time, she liked to garden and enjoyed canning and freezing vegetables for her family. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing. She made many blankets for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Left to mourn her passing are her parents, Harold and Erma Willey of Mount Ayr, IA; her husband, James, of Eagle Grove, IA; her sons, James, Jr. of Woolstock, IA, Kenneth of Eagle Grove, Ronald of Eagle Grove, and Michael of Eagle Grove; daughter, Shelley Dolan of Eagle Grove; seven grandchildren, Christopher Mohr, Melissa and Brandon Mohr, Kenneth, Jr. and Courtney Mohr, Kesha Kaufman and Jacob Dolan. She is also survived by one brother, Norman Willey and wife Pam of Rock Springs, WY; one sister, Linda Mathany and husband Dave of Indianola, IA; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services were held on October 11, 1996 at the Nazarene Church in Clarion, IA with the Reverend Mark Else officiating. Musical selections included "Precious Lord Take My Hand", "How Great Thou Art" and "God Bless America." Music was provided by Stephanie Unger as soloist and Betty Loomis as organist. Casketbearers were Dallas Coon, Herman Hiemstra, Pat Russell, Dennis Eittreim, Al LaRue and Arnold Wendel. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, Iowa, with the William Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
