March 31, 1917 ---- June 29, 2012

Alice S. Bridges, age 95, of Dows, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, at Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. Funeral services for Alice S. Bridges will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday July 7, 2012 at the First Lutheran Church in Dows. Pastor Ron Nelson will officiate. Burial be in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows. Visitation for Alice S. Bridges will held from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Friday July 6, 2012 at the First Lutheran Church and continue one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be directed to the First Lutheran Church in Dows or the donors choice. Dugger Funeral Home, 100 North Lee Street in Dows in charge of arrangements.

Alice Synthia Bridges was born on March 31, 1917. She was the seventh of twelve children born and raised by Edward and Sadie (Miller) Ingebritson on the Ingebritson century farm four miles east of Dows. Alice received her grade school education at the country schoolhouse a half mile north of the farm and attended Dows High School. When a young woman, Alice moved to Chicago to find employment and later returned to Iowa where in 1938 she married Clair “Bill” Bridges and moved to the Bridges century farm located four miles northeast of Dows. After Bill’s death in 1966, she lived in Dows for a short time before returning to the farm where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a devoted member of the First Lutheran Church in Dows and a member of the Friendly Circle Women’s Club. Anyone who stopped in to visit her could always count on a friendly welcome, a cup of coffee and a rousing game of Skip-Bo.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her son, Bob, her six brothers (Owen, Floyd, Leland, Orville, Harry, and Merton Ingebritson, and three sisters (Helen Nebergal, Gwendoline Miller, and Geraldine Jette Hurd). Survivors include her children, Janice Olson of Aptos, CA, Charlene Albers of Dundas, MN, and Harold Bridges of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Olive Quasdorf of Eldora, Iowa and Faye Boser of Little Falls, MN, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
