Funeral services for Lauretta L. Benz, 70, Humboldt, were held Friday, April 17, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge, with burial in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Beaver Township. She died Monday, April 13, 1998, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements, with the Rev. G.L. Milbrath officiating. Casketbearers were Gary Kuehnast, Robert Friedrich, Kenneth Thompson, Melvin Benz, Craig Thompson, and Brent Kuehnast.

Survivors include her husband, Arlon, of Humboldt; a daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Rick Koob of Humboldt; two grandchildren; and a brother, Floyd Kuehnast of Lanesboro, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and a brother, Donovan.

Lauretta Louise Kuehnast, daughter of Reinhold and Louise (Busse) Kuehnast, was born July 27, 1927, in Beaver Township and received her education in Humboldt County. In 1949 she was united in marriage to Arlon Benz in Beaver Township. The couple made their home on a farm south of Livermore, and in 1953 they moved to their home in Beaver Township. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Fort Dodge; a past member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Beaver Township; and member of the Zion Ladies Aid, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Circle, and the Beaver Ladies Club. She was also an active member and president of the Humboldt Garden Club and was the director of the Humboldt County Red Cross.
