BELMOND — Corinne J. Kessler, 98, of Johnston and long-time resident of Belmond passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston. Private family funeral services for Corinne J. Kessler will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond. Pastor Troy Pflibsen will officiate. Burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery. Public visitation for Corinne J. Kessler will be anytime from 12 noon to 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 17, at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luicks Lane South in Belmond, and the public is invited one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon at 12 noon Wednesday, July 18, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 303 Third Avenue N.E. in Belmond.

Corinne was born April 10, 1914, in Belmond to Charles A. and Selma (Hanson) Johnson. She graduated from Belmond High School and was the valedictorian of the Class of 1932. Her work outside the home was at the Belmond Post Office where she met and later married Gordon Kessler in 1938. She also worked in Harold’s Clothing Store and Thompsen’s Clothing Store in Belmond. Corinne was a life-long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond.

Corinne is survived by two children, Diane (Arlyn) Frohling of Bradenton, Fla., and Dr. Dennis (Debra) Kessler of Urbandale, six grandchildren, Steve (Suzanne Bentler) Long, Iowa City, Marc (Beth) Long, Coralville, Susan (Don) Scarlett, Sarasota, Fla., Matt (Erin) Kessler, West Des Moines, Brett (Missy) Kessler, Ames, and Grant Kessler, Ames, six great-grandchildren, Eric, Michael, Ella Corinne and Jack Scarlett of Sarasota, and Ethan and Rhys Long of Coralville and much- loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Gordon and Greg, son-in-law, Mike Long, brothers, Harold (Iola) Johnson, Ardell (Alice) Johnson, and sister Leona (Norman) Simonson. Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South, Belmond, Iowa.
