Clear Lake, IA -- The Reverend Eldon Eugene (Jan) Jandebeur, 86, 1523 W. Sixth Ave N., Clear Lake, Iowa, received and answered his last "call," transferring to heaven on June 28, 2012. A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, July 2, at the First Christian Church, Fourth and Adams Streets, Mason City, with the Rev. Dan Cline officiating. Visitation will be one hour preceding the service at the church. Interment will be at the Cedar Cemetery, Lytton, Iowa, at 3 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church, Mason City, or Hospice of North Iowa.

Eldon was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Alma, Neb., the son of Clarence Daniel and Floy Edna (Randall) Jandebeur. He graduated from Alma High School in 1943; Johnson Bible College, Kimberlin Heights, Tenn.; and then attended Phillips University, Enid Oklahoma and Drake University Divinity School, Des Moines, Iowa. Eldon married Ellen Marie Huster on July 7, 1957, in Sac City, Iowa. Other "calls" that Eldon answered were to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in many congregations including Associate Pastor, Central Christian Church, Des Moines; Coon Rapids and Goldfield, Ia., Aurora, Neb., Chariton, Winterset, Clear Lake and Zearing, all in Iowa. He retired in December 1989 and then served as interim pastor at the Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ), Mason City, Charles City/ Nora Springs and United Church of Christ, Manchester, New Hampton/Ionia, Hampton, Eagle Grove and Belmond, all in Iowa.

He was a life-long member of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, having been baptized in 1935. He is currently a member at First Christian Church, Mason City. Other organizations he was involved in were a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge 197, Coon Rapids, and now the 264 AF & AM Lodge of Carroll; the River City Barbershop Chorus and the Clear Lake Noon Lions. Eldon enjoyed golfing, singing in the River City Barbershop chorus and reading.

Eldon is survived by his wife Ellen Jandebeur, Clear Lake, daughter Beth Ann Jandebeur, New Prague, Minn., son Brent Alan Jandebeur and his wife Amy, Clear Lake; four grandchildren Moriah Jandebeur, New Prague, Christopher (Erin) Jandebeur, Des Moines, Troy Jandebeur, Clear Lake, and Emilie Jandebeur, Clear Lake; one sister Phyllis Garska, Baden Lake, N.C.; brothers-in-law Edward (Shirley) Huster, Duane (Joyce) Huster, Sac City; and several nieces and nephews. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brothers Lyle and Marvin Jandebeur; father and mother-in-law Thomas and Betty Huster and brother-in-law Walter Huster.
