Mary Jane York, 94, passed away on Feb. 3, 2012, at Lakeview Nursing Center in Indianapolis, after an extended illness of several months. Born July 5, 1917 in Wright County, Iowa, to Walter and Opha Sims Porter. She was married to Lloyd York for 66 years; he preceded her in death. She was educated in the Shoals School System. She owned and managed the Riley Grill for 20 years, and worked for the Vigo County School Corporation for 10 years. She was a member of the Riley Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Riley Methodist Church, and Daughters of The Nile. She is survived by two sons, Brad and wife Kathy of Humble, Texas; Bart, and wife Dorinda, of Indianapolis, four grandchildren B. J. York, Stephanie Lee, Tiffany Reitcheck, and Troy York, eight great-grandchildren. Locally, visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. Burial in Springhill Cemetery. Preferred memorials to the Riley United Methodist Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
