September 8, 1922 --- September 1, 2002

WATERLOO - Philip "Gene" Haycraft, 79, of Waterloo, formerly of Charles City, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at his home of natural causes. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansdale. There will be no visitation, his body was cremated. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Philip was born Sept. 8, 1922, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Philip and Sena (Mandsager) Haycraft. He was united in marriage to Ellen "Peg" Davis on Nov. 10, 1944, in Hiawatha, Kan. In 1959 Philip moved to Charles City where he worked for Walmsley's/Mills-Helmers' Plumbing, Inc. He also owned and operated Haycraft's Harley Davidson Shop during this time. After retiring, he and his son Keith established H & H Renovations, renovating and selling homes.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen "Peg" Haycraft of Waterloo; two daughters, Ellen Conner, Eustis, Fla. and Sandi Bonlie, Broadhead, Wis.; a son, Keith (Charlotte) Haycraft, of Waterloo; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert L. Haycraft, Wichita, Kan. and Rev. Edward L. Novak, New Brighton, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents. Locke Funeral Home, Inc. in Waterloo is in charge of arrangements.
