FAIRFAX, MN - Phyllis "Phoosie" Erdal, age 85, of Fairfax, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Fairfax Community Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 9, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax with burial in Ft. Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota. Arrangements are by the Hauser-Hantge Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Sunday, April 8, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Phyllis "Phoosie" (Jergensen) Erdal was born on March 13, 1927, in Goldfield, Iowa, to Albert and Jennie (Larson) Jergensen. She is survived by her children, Dianne Larson and her husband, Steve of Sioux Falls, S.D., Doug Erdal and his wife, Joyce of Fairfax, Paul Erdal and his wife, Gwen of Winthrop; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Harley Jergensen of Monument, CO.

FAIRFAX, MN - Phyllis "Phoosie" Erdal, age, 85 of Fairfax passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax. Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 9, 2012, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax with Pastor Vicki Toutges officiating. Interment will be in the Ft. Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely Township, Nicollet County. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Sunday April 8, 2012, at the church and one hour prior to the service.

Phyllis "Phoosie" (Jergensen) Erdal was born on March 13, 1927, in rural Wright County, (Goldfield, IA). She was the daughter of Albert and Jennie (Larson) Jergensen. Phyllis was baptized as an infant on July 7, 1927, at her home by Pastor Distad and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education at Thrall Country School (Goldfield, Iowa) and was a 1944 graduate of Bricelyn High School.

On April 14, 1946, Phyllis was united in marriage to Lloyd Erdal at the church parsonage in Bricelyn, MN. After their marriage, the couple resided in Bricelyn, Thief River Falls, and Minneapolis. In 1950 they moved to Fairfax. This union was blessed with three children. Phyllis and Lloyd shared 34 years of marriage before Lloyd passed away on April 18, 1980. Phyllis was employed in Minneapolis for a short time. In 1977, she began working at the Morton State Bank, Morton, MN, and then later at Citizen's State Bank in Fairfax for 22 years, retiring in 1998 at the age of 71. Phyllis was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax where she taught Sunday School, was active with Ladies' Aid, served as financial secretary and was on the Endowment Committee. She loved the community of Fairfax and was actively involved. She was a former Girl Scout Leader, she served on the Fort Ridgeley Cemetery Board, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for more than 50 years and was instrumental in organizing the Parade of Flags in Fairfax. Through her employment at the bank, she planned Nifty Fifty Group trips and helped with the Santa's Helpers Program.

Phyllis loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed flower gardening and her many trips to Lake Koronis, staying in "Phoosie's Palace." Phyllis is survived by her children, Dianne Larson and her husband Steve of Sioux Falls, SD, and their children, Greg Larson, Chris Larson and his children, Stanley and Oscar Larson, and Sarah Larson-Gimenez and her husband, Jeff; Doug Erdal and his wife, Joyce of Fairfax, MN, and their child, Rachel and her fiancee Matt Oanes, and their daughter, Alexis Oanes; Paul Erdal and his wife, Gwen of Winthrop, MN, and their children, Jesse Erdal and his wife, Laura and their children, Katarina, Lily and Aubree Erdal, Scott Erdal and his wife, Beth and their daughter, Brenna Erdal, Kevin Erdal and his wife Courtney; Brother, Harley Jergensen and his wife, Jeanne of Monument, CO; special family, Lois and Tom Gilles, and their children, Greg Gilles and his wife, Katie and their children, Alison and Lucy; Stephen Gilles and his wife, Mary, and their children, Maddie and Chloe; sister-in-law, Ida Jergensen of Phoenix, AZ; brother-In-Law, Ray Erdal of Maple Plain, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Erdal; parents, Albert and Jennie Jergensen; siblings, Gertrude Cameron and her husband, Lenard, Helen Coltvet and her husband, August, Bette Anderson and her husband, Duane, Virginia Myers and her husband, Boyd and Dean Jergensen; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Arrangements by Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax, MN.
