CLARION, IA - Daryl R. Marshall, 89, of Clarion passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Wright Medical Center in Clarion. Funeral services for Daryl Marshall will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Church of Christ, 420 North Main Street, in Clarion with Pastor Warren Curry officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012 from 5:00 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Daryl Richard Marshall was born on December 23, 1922 to Alla Ethel McCormick and Herman Ralph Marshall at the farm home southeast of Clarion. He was educated through 8th grade in a rural schoolhouse, Lincoln #2. Daryl graduated from the Clarion High School in 1940. He lived on the family farm, engaged in farming with his father, until his marriage to Juanita Avon Richardson on August 16, 1952. To this union were daughter, Anita and twins, John and Judy.

Daryl lived on the farm until March 2001 when he moved to the Meadows Senior Living in Clarion. This is the farthest Daryl ever moved, 3 1/2 miles. After Daryl's stroke on September 24, 2011, he moved to Careage of Clarion. He was a member of the Clarion High School Band, which won national marching champ honors in 1939 at Minneapolis, MN. He was a charter member of the Clarion FFA in 1940. Daryl was an active member of the Clarion Odd Fellows and Marietta Rebekah lodge of which he was a member for over 34 years. He was also Sunday School class treasurer for over 40 years, a deacon and an elder at the Clarion Church of Christ and was baptized on March 1, 1953 at the Clarion Church of Christ. Daryl was also a member of the Wright County Pork Producers and the Iowa Cattleman's Association.

Daryl is survived by his children, Anita (Art) Van Ravenhorst of Sioux Center, John (Lavon) Marshall and Judy (Kevin) Ofstethun of Clarion; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and sisters, Maxine Spencer of Nevada, Betty Fibikar of Dows, Mary Ann Gathman of Oelwein, Inez Hanig of Waterloo and Phyllis Zwiefel of Clarion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita; parents, Ethel and Ralph; brothers, Robert Marshall and Rush Marshall and sister, Theresa Hollebrands.
