March 30, 1915 --- March 29, 2012

Otto Sebo Dannen, 96, of Latimer, Iowa, passed away on March 29, 2012, at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond in Belmond, Iowa. He was born on March 30, 1915, in Hampton, Iowa, the son of John and Maggie (Halfwassen) Dannen. Otto attended country grade school near Hampton. On January 3, 1942, he was united in marriage to Thelma Jurgens. Together they farmed for many years. Otto was a long time member of Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield, Iowa. He was also a grave digger at several area church cemeteries. He enjoyed restoring trunks, fixing things, reading the paper and gardening. Otto is survived by two children, Richard (Deb) Dannen of Ames, Iowa and Nancy (Kenneth) King of Plymouth, Minnesota, a granddaughter, Kristine (Harry) Dixon of San Diego, California, a great grandson, Ian Dixon of San Diego, California, two step grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Bryant of Blaine, Minnesota and Diana (Matt) Kain of Iowa City, Iowa, and two step great grandchildren, Emma and Charlie Bryant of Blaine, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Else Dannen and four sisters, Berendena (Jerry) Ammerman, Fannie (Otto) Marquardt, Winnie (Emil) Deike and Janna Dannen. Burial will be in the Zion Reformed Church Cemetery.
