EAGLE GROVE - Shirley (Livasy) Thorn was born September 21, 1921, in Clare, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Ethel (Claubaugh) Livasy. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. On April 5, 1940, Shirley was united in marriage with Clifford L. Thorn in Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Clarion (1940-41), Council Bluffs (1941-44), Fort Dodge (1944-46) and moved to Eagle Grove in 1946. Clifford preceded her in death on March 17, 1993. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. Shirley enjoyed spending time at church and with her family, friends.

Shirley passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home, at the age of 90 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Clifford "Butch" and Tom; brothers: Doyle Livasy, Keith Livasy, Tom Livasy and Don Livasy and sister, LaVon Box. Survivors include her son Ron Thorn and wife Mardell of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Brent Thorn and wife Amy, Chris Thorn and wife Maria, Kirstin Richards and husband Steve, Tim Thorn, Aaron Thorn, Travis Thorn, Cindy Gaither and husband Chuck and Sherry Hageman and husband Matt; step grandchildren: Ray Thorn and wife Debra, Judi Poling and husband Jim and Jim Thorn; great-grandchildren: Peyton, Olivia, Taylor, Hayden, Crystal, Brandt, Collin, Cason, Isabella; step great-grandchildren: Raymond and wife Christine, Abraham, Maegan, Madison, Jacob, Kristina, Candice, Katelyn, Jamie, Rane, Jimmy, Linda and step great great-grandchildren: Andrew, Faith, Kiera, Alanna, Malaya, Taylor and Danikah.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Dr. Fran Pettigrew officiating, with visitation from 12:00 pm until service time. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
