October 4, 1850 --- November 8, 1926

Daniel Gunn, who for many years was a resident of Fairfield Township died at an early hour Monday morning after a lingering illness of some duration. The funeral will be held this afternoon at two o'clock. Services will be conducted by Rev. M.C. Thompson, pastor of the Lutheran church of this city. The burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. Gunn was born at Chatham, Province of Quebec, Canada, October 4, 1850. His age was 76. He came to the United States when a mere child, the family locating in Wisconsin, where Mr. Gunn grew to manhood. After his mother's death, the family came to Iowa and settled at Clarion. In 1902 they moved to Palo Alto county, subsequently making their home on a farm in Fairfield township. Mr. Gunn was married at Webster City, March 26, 1886 to Josephine Bernard.

Mr. Gunn is survived by his widow and eight sons and daughters. They are: Lewis at Emmetsburg, John of Cylinder, Mrs. H. H. Frink and Mrs. K. Gjerde of Wilmar, Minnesota, Mrs. Theo. Engler and Mrs. Will Miller of Whittemore and Misses Anna and Pearl, who are at home.

Mr. Gunn was an industrious and frugal farmer and he enjoyed the friendship and good will of a wide circle of neighbors. He was for for many years a resident of the community in which he lived and he did his full share to promote the welfare of our county and state. He was a provident husband, a kind, anxious father, and a worthy, useful citizen. His death will be widely and sincerely mourned. Mrs. Gunn and the surviving sons and daughters have general and profound sympathy in the trying hours of their bereavement.
